Over the years, the caravanning industry has continuously grown and evolved while always striving to create more comfort, convenience and self-sufficiency within their vans.
With the industrial revolution of the 21st century, where automation and technology are key, we have seen a rise in the number of caravan manufacturers looking to keep costs down and production high by going offshore.
To be fair, the Chinese and imported caravans and hybrids are getting better by the year. Plus, they allow those with entry level budgets to actually have some skin in the game and also be able to enjoy the benefits of caravanning.
However, for many Aussies, investing in 100% Australian made caravans is of the utmost importance. It may be that keeping the money and jobs local is the goal, or maybe it’s the superior quality and attention to detail that you’re looking for.
If going full Aussie is your objective, this compilation of Australian made caravans will serve as a helpful guide while researching your options.
In addition to listing each caravan manufacturer who claims to be making 100% Australian vans, I’ve pulled together all of the information I could find (from their website and elsewhere) to support that declaration. I did also email a few companies if their wording wasn’t clear enough.
Some websites are using clever phrasing to make people think they’re offering an Australian made product at first glance. But, sometimes you need to dig a little deeper or even email the manufacturer directly if you want valid confirmation.
Clever wording that looks like Australian made, but actually isn’t:
- “Australian owned & operated” – locally owned, but not necessarily built
- “Built for Australian conditions” – built for Australia, but not necessarily made in Australia
- “Local factory” – they may just assemble the caravan there using imported flat packs
- “Designed in Australia” – ‘designed’ doesn’t automatically equal ‘manufactured’
- “Australian caravan manufacturer” – the company is Australian, but the vans may still be largely built overseas
If I couldn’t find the definite wording to illustrate that the caravan manufacturer 100% constructs their vans within Australia, it did not make the cut for this Australian made caravans list.
Look out for the ‘Australian Made, Australian Grown (AMAG)’ logo ↓

The Australian Made logo is the true trademark of Aussie authenticity. It’s the most trusted and widely recognised symbol run by a third-party accreditation system. For a company to be awarded with the green and gold kangaroo logo, they must first register, then be able to fulfil a set of criteria which is set out by the AMAG Logo Code of Practice and Australian Consumer Law. |
Your guarantee when buying a caravan displaying the AMAG logo:
- Products are made to Australian standards
- The company shows commitment to supporting local economy, businesses, suppliers & jobs
- Reliable warranties due to locally sourced components, which are more easily accessible
- Products abide by sustainable manufacturing laws
- Products are constructed and tested in local conditions
Okay, let’s get into it!

Masterpiece Caravans Campbellfield are also 100% Aussie made. We watched ours made from the chassis up.
Thanks for sharing Kerrie. I can see that they now advertise “100% Australian Made” on their website now, so I’ll add them to the list.
Thanks heaps for this, it was so helpful!
I’d much prefer to buy an Aussie made caravan so you’ve saved me having to do all this research myself. 🙂
Re your article Directory of Australian Made Caravans (83 Manufacturers), I am disappointed that you did not bother to fully research this. It is a complex subject and demanded a thorough and exhaustive research – or else best left alone.
I own a caravan new in 2021 which was hand built in Melbourne by a manufacturer who does not appear in your “directory”.
Thus, by omission, readers will almost certainly assume it is not Australian made.
I can assure you that the amount of research that was put into this article was immense. As stated at the beginning of the post, “if I couldn’t find the definite wording to illustrate that the caravan manufacturer 100% constructs their vans within Australia, it did not make the cut for this Australian made caravans list.” I cannot add any manufacturers who don’t clearly state, or who I know on a personal level are fully made in Australia, as a moral obligation. If you’d like to share the brand of caravan you have I’d be happy to look into it and add them to the list.
How about Essential caravans
I reckon Essential Caravans are all Aussie made. They do allude to that on their website. However without the specific 100% Australian made wording, I can’t add them to the list just in case a portion of the build is somewhat imported.
Who made your van Geoff Bruin?
