I’m pretty sure it’s not just us voting the Big 4 Adventure Park to be the BEST family Resort in Airlie Beach. The park is located in the heart of the tropical Whitsundays, Queensland. You could say it was a bit of a kids wonderland with a waterpark, pool, jumping pillows, playground, animal farm, daily kids activities and night time movies. For mini golf Airlie Beach, this is your go-to resort!
We had an accommodation voucher to use, so we thought we’d treat ourselves to some luxury. We’d heard pretty great thing about this park and man it did not disappoint!
While in Airlie Beach, visiting the iconic Great Barrier Reef is a very popular activity to do. Although it cops a fair bit of negative press, there are plenty of very good reasons why you definitely should visit the Great Barrier Reef while in the Whitsunday region. We didn’t get the chance to visit this time, but it’s definitely on our bucket list for the future.

Fun Stuff to do at BIG 4 Adventure Resort
The kids have had an absolute ball and we’ve thoroughly enjoyed our holiday within our travels. The staff have been lovely and the sites are very tropical with regular visits from Bush Stone Curlews, Possums and Ducks throughout the day and night. You could honestly chill out at this awesome Airlie Beach family resort for a week without needing to even leave the park!

Swim at the Resort Pool
You can’t stay at the Adventure Resort without relaxing by the biggest resort pool in Airlie Beach. There are plenty of lounge chairs spotted around with views across the blue water and over to the water slides. Kick back with a good book and float around in the water to cool off. The kids will spend hours splashing around and going down the two pool slides.
Get Stuck into Some Activities
When we checked into the Resort we were given a timetable of the various activities on offer each day. Some things needed to be booked and some were just on a ‘rock up’ basis. In addition, the lovely ladies at Reception hand out a different activity each day that the kids can complete, then go back and collect a prize. It could be a hunt of some sort or a find-a-word.
While some activities cost a small fee, there were many free ones on offer as well. Allan and the kids were keen to try the Scuba Diving course in the pool, but unfortunately that one was cancelled at the last minute.

Watch a Movie at the Outdoor Cinema
Pull up a camp chair and pack some snacks and drinks for a night under the stars. The Outdoor Cinema screens family-friendly movies three nights a week and seven times during the school holidays. This experience is completely free and open to every resort guest.
Play a Round of Mini Golf
Get the family together and head to the 18 hole putt-putt course. Nestled in amongst the tropical surroundings, you’ll feel like you’re playing a round in Bali! This is open day and night, so there’s no rush to make it to the end. Mini Golf Airlie Beach is a free activity for all Resort guests. You just need to put down a deposit at Reception for the golf clubs and purchase a few balls to keep.

Visit the Animal Farm
Down the back of the park you will the resident animal farm, spanning 3.5 acres. Check your timetable for opening times and wander over for a visit. The kids will get to meet the baby calf, sheep, chickens and more. They may even get a chance to feed them.
Schedule in Some Kids Club Time
The Whitsunday Adventure Park is the only mainland Resort to have a Kids Club. Make sure you book in a session or three and have some quiet time to relax while the kids are occupied and having fun. Each Kids Club session has different activities lined up to keep the kids busy and happy so you don’t have to worry about a thing.

Hit up the Waterpark
It’s no surprise that the Whitsunday Adventure Park is famous for it’s massive waterpark! With no less than 13 waterslides, a tipping bucket and tiny tots splash zone, it’s easy to see why. The kids will be occupied for hours here and have the best time.
Get Playful
Burn off some energy wit some of the other facilities and activities on offer around the park. Go for a ride on your bikes or hire out some pedal karts. Bounce around on the two giant Jumping Pillows or explore the playground. Get competitive on the tennis courts or book in a poolside massage.
It really is choose-your-own-adventure at the Whitsunday Adventure Resort! There is so much on offer, it’s totally up to you how you prefer to spend your days. We really wish we didn’t have to leave, but we’re back on the road again tomorrow as we continue our descent down the East Coast.

Do you reckon the BIG 4 Adventure Resort is the best Family Resort in the Airlie Beach? Let us know in the comments below.

thanks for the information and posts
This looks like a ton of fun for kids. I have never visited Whitsunday, but it certainly looks like a fun place to spend the weekend. I love mini golf so that would for sure be on my list of fun activities.
The Adventure Whitsunday Resort is certainly a fantastic way to while away a weekend.
Whitsunday Adventure Park looks like a fun way to spend a weekend. So glad to know there are adventures for kids and adults too.
Yep, plenty of fun for both big and little kids alike.
It does look like a big and little kids playground to be sure though “camping” in a resort is not exactly our cup of tea. The setting looks absolutely gorgeous though and your opening photo … WOW!!! If that is your view, that is ridiculous.
We don’t usually frequent glamping parks either, so the Whitsunday Adventure Park was a real treat. I wish that view was from our camp, but we had to go up the road for that.
I am not an adventure park person but this looks so much fun! Esp. the pool…on a hot summer’s day, it’d be so much relief to soak in there. The resort would be a great place to spend a weekend with kids. They’ll have so much fun here!
Absolutely, the kids didn’t want to leave.
Whitsunday Resort seems to be an ideal place for kids. The animal farm, outdoor sports and water park looks so much fun. I can see you had a great time.
We sure did!
What a gorgeous location! I’m a sucker for places that have all of the nice pools and activities and this spot looks like the perfect place to vacation. Thanks for sharing 🙂
Same here. We love that stuff, but it is a treat. Can’t wait to go back to somewhere like that.
Wow, the Whitsunday Islands are beautiful! I have heard of them, but haven’t seen photos nor did I know anything about them. I love that the resort offered a different kid activity each day and they could complete it for a prize! Kid motivation at its finest right there! I like your camp features “menu” at the top too. Very helpful!
Thanks Heather. Yep, kid motivation always works with a prize! Glad you found it helpful. The Whitsundays is just gorgeous.
Whitsunday is super high up on my list for its beautiful turquoise waters, but I’d really only seen outdoorsy/nature photos of it and didn’t know there were fun resorts like this to stay at too. Looks like you had a blast!
Oh yeah, it lives up to the expectations too!
Everything looks like so much fun. I love water slides and those big jumping pillows look like a blast. It’s great that they hand you a schedule of activities so that you can plan accordingly. Too bad the scuba was cancelled last minute, but luckily there is so many other things to do here 🙂
It was a shame to have the Scuba Diving cancelled, but we managed to occupy ourselves with all of the other great things on offer.
Great post. The resort looks fantastic and there are so many things to keep the little ones occupied. You’ll find me at the mini golf course I think! Thanks for sharing.
Yeah we loved the Mini Golf as well.
I have never seen resort with so many activities as Big 4 Adventure resort has. There is no need to venture out to enjoy. You can do tons of things in the resort itself. Wonderful resort.
Yeah totally. We didn’t even want to leave the resort. In fact if it wasn’t for the gorgeous turquoise waters around the coast we probably wouldn’t have!
We’ve never actually stayed in a big 4 even though we’ve done a lot of travelling around Aus because of the price. But I do think if you can afford it and you have kids then it is really worth the money and the facilities you get are amazing. We actually stayed in one of the better campsites we’ve used around Airlie beach but I can’t remember the name of it, had a swimming pool which was awesome!!
Big 4’s are definitely expensive and usually out of our accommodation budget as well. It was nice to be able to treat ourselves.
You are definitely right, it looks like a campers wonderland. Hope you enjoyed your special treat!
Thank you, we did.
Woah this looks fantastic, yay that you had that voucher to burn! 😉
There is something about waterparks that can make any adult into a big kid again. I can totally see why that’d be fun for the whole family.
We couldn’t have picked a better place to use the voucher! Water slides are always awesome.
What an awesome campground with so many amenities. I don’t think I have ever stayed at one with all those.
It was so good, you didn’t even need to leave the park. I guess they designed it with that in mind.
Okay so I know you are pushing this as a Kids Park but I don’t have kids and I want to do all that fun stuff at Big 4 Adventure in the Whitsunday Resort! The Jumping Pillows look like a blast. Of course hanging at a water park and beating Darcee at Mini Golf would be awesome too! What a fun adventure!
Haha it’s perfect for the big kids too- absolutely!
If only they allowed pets, this would be perfect!
Yeah that was a bit of a downfall.
The resort looks really fun, I suppose it does especially for the kids. Definitely a place to go to take my nephews and nieces with me, if we ever get a chance to go to Australia. Thanks for sharing! 🙂
It’s a kids paradise! If you ever make it to the Whitsundays in Australia, it’s well worth checking it out.
This looks like such a fun adventure. I know I would have loved if my parents brought me here when I was younger! The area looks beautiful and safe, and all the features of the grounds are perfect! I love glamping!
This was definitely glamping! I would have loved it as a kid too.
You are absolutely right, this looks like a kid’s wonderworld. The waterpark looks like those littleuns will have a great time. I could see families having a great time here.
It’s a great staycation for kids, that’s for sure.
Yep absolutely love it there. We stayed a week in 2017, then in 2018 we stayed for 3 weeks, arguably our favourite caravan park in Australia
Wow, that’s a big call. But I can see why, it’s pretty cool. 3 weeks would have been amazing – it’d be hard to go home after that!
