Recently we were given the opportunity to stay at a friend’s permanent holiday van at Northstar Holiday Park, Hastings Point BIG 4. Of course we said, “hell yeah!” This would have to be the best caravan park Hastings Point.
There was so much to do for the family that we didn’t want to leave. Although we didn’t have our van with us this time, we made sure to check out the camping facilities anyway for future reference.

Accommodation
The actual size of the Hastings Point Caravan Park is huge. They offer a whole range of different accommodation, from camping to cabins and even residential homes up the back.
We found the caravan park section to be very well kept with a nice, tropical feel. All sites had artificial grass, which mean there were no dirt patches – a nice addition.
Each site also has access to Foxtel. I’ve never come across that before in a Caravan Park!

BIG 4 North Star Waterpark
Let’s be honest, we were all in it mainly for the Waterpark and Super Slides at Sammy’s Adventure Lagoon! This would have to be the best waterpark we’ve come across so far within a Caravan Park.
The pools were even heated and it was nice to have the edge taken off the water temperature in the middle of winter. There was a lagoon pool, plus a shallow wading pool for the little ones.
We were lucky to have been able to make full use of the newest additions – two 8 metre-high super slides, which wind around over 60 metres through rainbow light features into landing platforms below.
The aquatic playground was great for big and little kids alike, with 65 interactive water features, water cannons and mini slides.
Every six minutes the ‘Big Dripper’ bucket fills up and dumps 600 litres of water over the playground and squealing kids.
I particularly liked that there was plenty of shade around for the adults to sit in while the kids played.
Neptune’s Castle & Kids Club
Within the BIG 4 Hastings Point Caravan Park is a huge indoor playground called Neptune’s Castle for kids from age 3 – 12 years old. It comes complete with a 3-level spiral slide, ball pit, mirror maze, flying fox and other activities.
The Kids Club is fully supervised and FREE! There is a notice board on the outside of the Games Room wall, which has all of the current Kids Club times (1.5 hour sessions) for each age group.
Booking is not required and parents are allowed to do a drop-and-run! Just leave your phone number on the sign-in form so they can call you if there are any issues.
Neptune’s Castle is also available for use during off-season times as long as there’s parental supervision.
Next to the Kids Club building is an outdoor playground that can be used at your leisure throughout the day. Plus a Games Room, but all of the machines require coins.

Camp Kitchen
The Hastings Point Caravan Park Camp Kitchen was huge with an extensive array of appliances on offer and plenty of space for everyone.

Laundry Facilities
You can get on top of your washing with plenty of washing line space and coin operated washers and dryers available.
Ripples Cafe
Onsite is the licensed Ripples Cafe, which is set in amongst the tropical palms. It’s located beside the pool and open 7 days a week. Available for snacks, coffee, buffet breakfast or themed dinner night.
Kids meals are available, of course. Plus, beer, wine, fresh seafood and more.
Marine Environment Museum
Just when you think they can’t jam-pack one more thing into the resort, you find out there’s a Marine Environment Museum there as well! We didn’t check it out, but entry was around $3 per person.
The teaching centre is open once per week for guests, with a few extra sessions on school holidays. There’s a whole range of marine specimens with educational information.
Adults Only Leisure Centre
At the Northstar Holiday Park you’ll find an Adults Only Leisure Centre, which houses three spas, a nice lap pool, gym, sauna, hair & beauty studio, plus massage therapy. No kids allowed, you must be 16+ to enter. It’s open daily for all guests from 9am – 5pm.

This seems to be a really great place for a vacation. It seems to have all the facilities that one would need, from laundry to leisure. I like the fact that it has everything for the family. Water Park and other attractions for kids make it a perfect family place.
BIG 4 North Star is a fantastic family holiday resort. Definitely worth splashing out for the water park and onsite restaurant.
This looks like a great caravan park and I like that there is a range of accommodation available. The Tweed region is a real treasure with so much to see and do.
There really is a lot to explore throughout the whole region. Hastings Point BIG 4 offers a great base for that.
This caravan park really has everything! The water park looks so much fun, especially the Big Dipper! Looks like you guys had a fantastic time. Foxtel is a nice touch too (especially now that I live in Australia and realize how expensive it is!).
The waterpark is definitely a highlight of this caravan park for the kids and families. How cool to offer Foxtel at each camp, I’ve never come across that before.
Looks like a really fabulous, well kept resort. At first I thought it was going to be very much family orientated, but see that they also cater for those people who arrive without children. I love the idea of an adult only leisure facility! We usually travel in our RV, but I think in Australia we would be tempted to stay on one of the cabins. Great that there are all these options.
It was definitely very kid-focussed, but the adults certainly didn’t miss out. It’s nice to cater for both parties.
