UPDATE – This campsite is now closed and only available as a day-use area. |
The Routh Creek Free Camping Rest Area is 17km east of Georgetown in western Far North Queensland. This camp was only small (you could fit about 4-5 camps in there max), so get in early!
It was a great spot to chill by a croc-free waterhole for a few days and have a dip. That might change when the river begins to flow again in the wet season though, so don’t just take our word on that.
We spent a relaxing Father’s Day there fishing, playing board games and chatting to Sven, a guy we’d camped near further up the road at Flinders Creek.
