If you’re looking for somewhere FREE to cool off on a hot, summers day, Orion Lagoon at Springfield has it all with a massive swimming pool, water park and plenty of shallow depth water play.

You’ll find Orion Lagoon nestled behind the ever-expanding Orion Springfield Central Shopping Centre. The Springfield Swimming Pool and Water Park is 30 minutes from both Brisbane and Logan City and 25 minutes from Ipswich.

With Lifeguards on duty and a Cafe and toilets on site, you can set up for the day and enjoy a fun, free family day out just a stones throw from the three major city centres.

Orion Lagoon Swimming Pool

With a range of different interconnected pools and depths, there is something for everyone, from shallow pools, water features, a toddler-friendly pool, plus a huge additional pool varying in depth from 0.3m – 1.5m. Springfield Lagoon is a FREE council-run facility where Lifeguards are also on duty for peace of mind.

Orion Lagoon Water Park

If you take a leisurely stroll over the bridge (beside the Cafe) you will find a zero depth Waterpark with a big tipping bucket, water spouts, an electronic playground and another Cafe. Take in the natural surroundings along the way and check out the early evening sound and light show at the end of the day.

Finding Shade at Orion Lagoon

There are a number of umbrella shades and trees spotted around the Springfield swimming pool, however, these can fill up quickly during busy periods (summer, weekends and school holidays).

People are generally happy to share the shaded areas, without encroaching on each other’s space.

Guests are allowed to bring their own sun shades as long you don’t put any pegs into the ground. Sandbags and other weights are acceptable options.

There is also a sheltered BBQ pavilion with multiple BBQs and picnic tables.

Orion Lagoon Cafe

Enjoy breakfast, lunch or a cool treat at the Orion Lagoon Cafe. From hot coffees, smoothies and ice creams to burgers, hot dogs and breakfast meals.

You’re welcome to eat at the Cafe or take your food back to your spot by the pool and have a picnic.

There is also a Cold Rock Ice Creamery up on top of the hill that overlooks Orion Lagoon Swimming Pool.

Getting to Orion Lagoon

Orion Lagoon sits behind Orion Springfield Central Shopping Centre along Southern Cross Circuit, Springfield.

There is a small onsite car park, as well as some street parking alongside the swimming pool. If you have no luck there, you can use the shopping centre car park, which is directly across the road.

More to Do while Visiting Springfield Pool

Robelle Domain

Orion Lagoon is situated within the gorgeous Robelle Domain, which is spread out over 24 hectares. Enjoy 11km of boardwalks for walking and cycling, sporting fields and playgrounds.

Take the boardwalk beside the Orion Lagoon to meander over the creek and down to the playground. There you’ll find interactive play equipment and the zero depth water park.

Make full use of the large grassy expanses, shaded picnic areas, land art pyramids and the twilight sound and light show that automatically plays at the close of each day.

Orion Shopping Centre

Once you’re finished at the pool and water park, head over to the Springfield Orion Shopping Centre. This indoor/ outdoor shopping centre is beautifully laid out with clothing stores, restaurants and all of the other usual retailers.

Or, head into the movie theatre and catch one of the latest blockbusters in the new cinemas.
